Wild Mare & Foal
Sand Wash Basin, Colorado
This newborn baby still had an umbilical cord dangling. The stallion took this family on a forced move when it was attacked by stray stallions and another herd stallion they got too close to. The baby straggled and the herd bonded together to keep it safe, an amazing experience to watch. Even the stallion worked to find a safe place to rest while he stood watch over baby. Family bonds are beautiful to watch in the wild.
Meet, Semper, at about 10 days old. Mum, Spotlight, keeps Semper safe & comforts her as she rests leaning against Mum for support. Mare & Foal on the wide open plains of the High Rocky Mountains. This lil foal made headlines just 2 weeks later, when helicopters tragically separated it from her mum on the range. Two lone stallions stepped up to protect Semper and help her find her mum, losing their freedom in the process....
help stop these tragic roundups of wild horse families!
I support the efforts to change the hostile roundups of our wild horses. They need our help. Every purchase allows me to continue to provide support to create safe places for these wild animals to live in peace. These families deserve to be kept together and remain free. There are new refuge areas developed after this roundup to gather as many wild horses as they can to provide them with humane range management so live their life safely.
